Rec is recreation software built for city and county parks departments, and it now includes a cloud tee sheet for municipal golf courses. The same platform runs a department's programs, memberships, facility rentals, events and point of sale, so a muni course can share one resident account, one payment system and one set of reports with the rest of the city. Rec is published by Rec Technologies, Inc., a San Francisco company co-founded by CEO Birju Kadakia and president Rachel Williams. Courses and golfers can write a Rec review using this SURVEY FORM.
Rec sells to parks and recreation agencies, not to golf clubs on their own. Rec says it serves more than 100 cities across the US, including San Francisco Rec and Park, the City of Torrance, Apex Park and Recreation District and the City of Norman. Its golf page carries testimonials from the City of Miamisburg and the City of Torrance. In September 2025 Rec announced an $11 million Series A led by Crosslink Capital.
Rec describes its golf product as a simple, cloud-based tee sheet for municipalities, with booking rules that staff own. Based on Rec's public golf page:
Golfers book tee times from the same Rec account they use for city programs, and find an open time from a phone in a few taps. Passes, 10-packs of rounds and resident, junior and senior rates apply automatically at booking.
Green fees, carts and merchandise can be rung up in one transaction in the same system golfers book in. Rec's POS also tracks retail and concession inventory, sells and redeems gift cards, runs card readers and cash drawers from one screen, and takes contactless payments, with every sale posting to a built-in ledger that reconciles at close. Rec says it is SOC 2 Type II audited and PCI DSS certified.
Rec's public pages do not cover dynamic pricing, tee time waitlists, squeeze times, shotgun or split-tee starts, Reserve with Google, third-party booking engine or marketplace distribution, F&B kitchen tickets, rain checks, offline mode or the payment processor behind its POS. Pricing is quote-based and not published. Treat those as open questions until Rec confirms them.
